The reviews are in...tubing mascara does the trick!

I am a girl who is always searching for the perfect mascara. I have been blessed with long, dark, slightly curled lashes, so I really don't have the kind of complaints that some of you might have, but...I also have very oily skin, so mascara tends to smudge on me all the time! I hate ending up with rings under my eyes within a few hours of applying. I usually don't even apply mascara on my lower lashes because it smudges so quickly. Here are some of the mascaras I have tried lately.... (keep in mind that I don't use waterproof, but all of these are available in that type of formula)

1. Clinique High Impact Mascara.
clinique.com $14.00

This is a great everyday mascara, because it gives you volume, but not that super exaggerated look. It's also great for sensitive eyes (like mine!) It's fairly affordable, and the great thing about Clinique is the bonuses! If you buy a certain dollar amount of their product, you get great free gifts!

2. bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara.
sephora.com $18.00

I tried this mascara because I am a fan of the bareMinerals makeup, but honestly there is not much difference between this one and the Clinique one above. They both do a great job for everyday, but for high drama, I wouldn't recommend it!

3. benefit BADgal Lash Mascara
Sephora.com $19.00

This is a mascara that is for sure DRAMATIC! It does fatten up your lashes quite a bit. This is my everyday mascara right down, so I apply it very lightly, only on my top lashes. When I want a bolder look, I apply several coats, and also apply a coat to my bottom lashes. I feel like it smudged pretty easily, though, so if you have oily skin it might not be the best choice.

So let me give you a little head's up before I tell you about the next one. There is this new-ish type of product called tube mascara. You apply it on, and it basically shrink-wraps each lash as it dries, bonding to each one. It is supposed to be smudge, tear, and sweat-proof. It only comes off with water, and then each little tube comes off easily. It is supposed to be super lengthening, because you can keep building on the fibers that you apply to your lashes.

I had decided to try some of this new mascara when I got a gift card to my favorite beauty store, Sephora. I was sad when I found out my local store doesn't carry any because it is a small location, so I found out about a drugstore version and decided to try it out. Here is my review!

4.L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes
target.com
$8.99
Wow, they were right! This stuff really doesn't move! I decided to test it every way possible, to see if it really could take it.
Sunday 8am: applied
Sunday 10am: cried a little watching my kiddos in their annual program at church. mascara stil there!
Sunday 3pm: nap time. i sleep on my face. wake up. still there.
Sunday 10pm: go to bed, decide to see how it looks in the morning, so i don't wash it off.
Monday 7am: wake up...still on!
Monday 10am-go to my workout class where I sweat SOOOO much...mascara stays put. incredible.
Monday 11:30am-finally wash it off! tubes slide off easily. no black rings left under my eyes. realize that i really do have dark cirles, not just mascara smudges. must do something about that.

For the price and convenience, I would definitely recommend #4. I did find it to be a little dramatic for every day, so I am sticking with one of the other ones, but when date night comes around, I will be wearing a tubing mascara!

Who says middle-aged women can't have long hair?

I just saw this on Yahoo and I'm just going to copy the article here for you all to read. I actually think about this alot ! I'm so glad other people have the same question :)

Why is there always a debate surrounding long hair? Writer Dominique Browning, 55, wrote a piece for the New York Times today about how she loves having long hair, but everyone in her life seems to have a problem with it: "My mother hates it. My sister worries about it. My agent thinks I’m hiding behind it. A concerned friend suggests that it undermines my professional credibility. But in the middle of my life, I’m happy with it," Browning writes. And we can see where she's coming from!

When you're a young woman, a long, lustrous mane is often hair priority number one. Bouncing long hair is the most popular style for younger celebrities, it's favored by both designers and stylists, and, from what the many magazine surveys tell us, most men love it best. Ladies under 40 will go to great lengths (heh. pun intended) to get the look—even shelling out hundreds or thousands of dollars for hair extensions. But the cultural acceptability of long hair comes to a screeching halt by the time you're middle-aged. Then society says it's time to fall in line, cut it all off, and, for many women, opt for a short, boring, de-sexualized "mom" haircut, one that's not particularly stylish, but—what the hey!—it's easy to maintain. The prevailing wisdom seems to be: Young women with long hair are sexy, but old women with long hair look witchy and somehow unkempt. Cripes.

This way of thinking seems unfair to us. We believe many, many older women look great with long hair, which can be flattering on a variety of different face shapes and hair types, and can even make you look younger. And as many of us with long hair can attest, it's often actually easier to deal with than shorter styles—you can go longer between trims, it doesn't require much styling to look great, and you can gather it into a quick bun or ponytail to get it out of your face.

But we also have nothing against short hair. Short hair looks awesome on tons of women. So does shoulder-length hair, for that matter. But the bottom line is this: Women should be able to wear their hair any way they want, no matter what their age.

To prove it, we rounded up an array of amazing-looking, over-45 celebs--who rock long hair in a gorgeous, sexy way.

Do you think women should cut their long hair when they get to a certain age?
And here are a few beautiful middle aged woman with long locks :)
